Calcasieu Cut Ups Quilt Guild

About Us

CCU was founded in 1986 to:

 - Create, stimulate, maintain & preserve an interest in quilting,

 - Be a source of information and inspiration for quilters

 - Encourage creativity in quilting

 - Be of service to the community

 - Establish and promote educational and community endeavors through quilts.

We are inclusive. No matter what level quilter you are, from novice to expert, no matter your background, if you love to quilt or would like to learn we would love to have you join us.

Meetings are on the 1st Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Moss Bluff (in a multipurpose room behind the church building) at

276 Old Hwy 171, Lake Charles, La 70611.

Quilting and the Community

We are dedicated to sharing our quilts with the community. We have donated quilts to local churches, First Responders, assisted living homes and hospitals to reach those in need of warmth and comfort.

We also participate in Quilts of Valor, which provides quilts to nominated members of the Military community. Each of these quilts is presented to someone as a thank you for their service and sacrifice.

Every other year we create an Opportunity Quilt as a public fundraiser. All of our fundraising goes towards financing our community projects and creating educational opportunities.

What we do:

We meet monthly to show off our recent projects, either finished or in the process.

We offer varied and fun programming including different rulers, colors and designs, and guest speakers throughout the year.

We challenge each other by offering several projects members can choose to participate in throughout the year, including an UnFinished Objects list and Lotto blocks.

We like to shop so there are usually plans for a Shop Hop in the works.

We party! Twice a year our meetings include good food and just relaxing.
